How to Evolve Scyther in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Want to evolve Scyther in Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Here's what you need to know.
For as long as Pokémon has been around, there have been some creatures that have special requirements before they undergo an evolution. Scyther is one of them, evolving into Scizor once traded whilst holding a Metal Coat.
Now, in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Scyther has two possible evolutions and each one requires a specific condition. Scyther can now be evolved into either Scizor or its new Hisuian variant Kleavor. This latest mainline entry to the series seems to focus more on the single-player experience, so thankfully you won't need to do any trading in order to get certain evolutions.
How to Evolve Scyther into Scizor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
To evolve Scyther into Scizor, players will still require a Metal Coat. Fortunately, though, no trading is involved this time.
The Metal Coat is a rare item, but you can grab it from a few different sources. The most straightforward is by purchasing it from the Item Exchange in Jubilife Village. It'll cost you 1,000 Merit Points, which can be earned by returning lost satchels.
Alternatively, lost satchels sometimes contain a Metal Coat so, if you're lucky, you might find one along the way. Once you've got a Metal Coat, give it to your Scyther and it'll earn the power to evolve into Scizor.
How to Evolve Scyther into Kleavor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Scyther's new evolution, Kleavor is certainly a must-have for players. You'll encounter one as the first frenzied Pokémon, but you won't be permitted to catch it. Instead, you'll probably want to evolve your own.
To do this, you'll need to get your hands on some Black Augurite - a fairly rare item.
Black Augurite can only be found in one of three ways, and might require a bit of grinding if you're not the lucky type. Players can obtain it as a drop from Graveler out in the field. Luckily, this Pokémonn is fairly common throughout Hisui so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the item this way.
It's also possible to dig one up through Ursaluna's treasure tracking, though its pretty rare to do so.
Your final option is to enter space-time distortions. Black Augurite is a rare drop from these distortions so you're not guaranteed to get one first time.
Once you've found a Black Augurite simply use it on the Scyther in your party. This will trigger it to evolve into Kleavor.
