As part of the Luminous Legends events, Niantic invited players to participate in the Fairy-type Pokemon challenge, offering bonuses if players could catch a total of 500 million Fairy-type Pokemon. The challenge was successful, and Shiny Galarian Ponyta has been added with boosted rates as part of the event rewards. The boosted rates will last from Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, May 17, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Galarian Ponyta is a Psychic-type Pokemon, so its best counters in raids are Dark and Ghost types. Pokemon such as Gengar, Chandelure, and Darkrai are great choices to take into the raid, although as a one-star raid boss, Galarian Ponyta shouldn't prove too difficult even without perfect counters. Galarian Ponyta's moves include Low Kick, Psycho Cut, Play Rough, Psybeam, and Swift.
