How to Open the First Nornir Rune Chest in The Strond: God of War Ragnarök

Scattered around the many realms in God of War Ragnarök are Nornir Chests. Here's how to open up the first rune chest in The Strond.

Nornir Chests are found all over the realms, containing valuable materials such as Idunn Apples or Horns of Blood Mead. These items will either increase Kratos' health or his Maximum Rage — both important gauges to max out for the many fights ahead.

But because these items are so valuable, cracking open the Nornir Chests requires more work. To unlock them, you'll need to find and break three runes, or Seals, located around the area near the chest. There are two Nornir Chests in The Strond. One can be opened immediately, whilst the other requires a special tool. Here's how to find the runes and open the first Nornir Rune Chest in The Strond.

How to Open the First Nornir Rune Chest in The Strond

This is the first Nornir Chest you’ll encounter, not long after you enter The Strond for the first time. The runes for this puzzle bear a resemblance to the letters 'C', 'R' and 'N' and you'll need to light three braziers.

• Rune ‘C’ — Immediately behind you, you’ll spot the top of the brazier. Knock away some of the boulders in front by throwing the Leviathan Axe to reveal the rune. Use the Blades of Chaos to light it.

• Rune ’R’ — Head back up the ledge towards Atreus and Tyr. Follow them up higher, then look for another ledge to the left. The brazier is just down past that ledge. Drop down, and use the Blades of Chaos to light it.

• Rune ‘N’ — Head past the rune chest towards the small drop. The brazier will be sitting in the dropped ledge. You'll be able to light it from a distance.

With all braziers lit, head back to the chest. Open it to receive an Idunn Apple.
