How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in Jarnsmida Pitmines: God of War Ragnarök

Scattered around the many realms in God of War Ragnarök are Nornir Chests. Here's how to open up the rune chest in the Jarnsmida Pitmines.

Nornir Chests are found all over the realms, containing valuable materials such as Idunn Apples or Horns of Blood Mead. These items will either increase Kratos' health or his Maximum Rage — both important gauges to max out for the many fights ahead.

But because these items are so valuable, cracking open the Nornir Chests requires more work. To unlock them, you'll need to find and break three runes, or Seals, located around the area near the chest. Here's how to find the runes and open the Nornir Rune Chest in the Jarnsmida Pitmines.

How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in Jarnsmida Pitmines

In order to break all of the runes for this chest, you'll need to light three braziers. The runes for this puzzle bear a resemblance to the letters 'R', 'C' and 'N.'

• Rune ‘R’ — This brazier is found immediately to the left of the chest.

• Rune ‘N’ — Swing across the gap to the left of the red chest. The platform you previously used to cross the gap above might need to be lowered. You may need to recall your axe to unfreeze the water and raise the platform again. 

• Rune ‘C’ — Drop down the ledge to the left, opposite the red chest. You’ll need to light the brazier for Rune ‘N’ first, as it requires the water to be frozen. After lighting the 'N’ brazier, return to the platform with the red chest. Look up at the water wheel and freeze the water as it runs down. You can now ignite the brazier for Rune ‘C’

With all braziers lit, head back down to the chest. Open it to receive a Horn of Blood Mead.
