How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Below: God of War Ragnarök

Scattered around the many realms in God of War Ragnarök are Nornir Chests. Here's how to open up the rune chest in The Below.

Nornir Chests are found all over the realms, containing valuable materials such as Idunn Apples or Horns of Blood Mead. These items will either increase Kratos' health or his Maximum Rage — both important gauges to max out for the many fights ahead.

But because these items are so valuable, cracking open the Nornir Chests requires more work. To unlock them, you'll need to find and break three runes, or Seals, located around the area near the chest. Here's how to find the runes and open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Below.

How to Open the Nornir Rune Chest in The Below

Not too long after entering, you’ll see the chest behind a gate that you can’t open from your current position. Instead, head around by continuing through The Below, crossing a zipline.

Cross the gap, past the glowing Hive nodules to the side with another gate. To the right of that is another ledge to drop down, which will lead you to the chest. You can now open the previously locked gate from this side.

This is a timed puzzle, though a forgiving one. You'll need to quickly hit all of the runes to open the chest. The runes bear a resemblance to the letters 'C', 'R' and 'N'.

• Rune ‘C’ — Found opposite the chest.
• Rune ‘R’ — Accessed through the previously locked gate.

• Rune ‘N’ — Through the window, above the ‘C’ rune. You’ll see the back of it. You won’t be able to hit it from this side, though. Instead, destroy the Hive nodules and use the now open grappling points to move around to the other side. Drop down and release the locked door. You should now have quick access to all three Runes.

Hit all runes and head back down to the chest. Open it to receive an Idunn Apple.
