User catches in the past were simply performed by pressing triangle when controlling a player. Now, there are different catch types in Madden 21.

• Possession Catch: Press A or X, Xbox One or PlayStation 4
• Run After Catch: Press X or Square, Xbox One or PlayStation 4
• Aggressive Catch: Press Y or Triangle, Xbox One or PlayStation 4

Each catch type will grant a different reaction from the player. Possession catches will make the player catch the ball and secure it at the cost of little yards after. Aggressive catches are for balls in coverage or out of reach. The last, Run After, lets the player catch the ball in stride and pick up some yards after completion.
