Is Pumpkaboo Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Pumpkaboo has returned to Pokémon GO for a limited time! As a part of Pokémon GO’s2022 Halloween event, Pumpkaboo will be appearing in the wild until Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 10:00 a.m. local time. As the chance the Pumpkin Pokémon nears its end, trainers have been wondering whether they are able to encounter it in its shiny form. 

Pumpkaboo was introduced into the Pokémon franchise during the sixth generation in the Kalos region. Though Pumpkaboo is not the strongest asset to a team in battle, having a Max CP of 1,202, its dual Grass and Ghost-typing and special ability make it a worthwhile addition to any trainer's collection. 

Is Pumpkaboo Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Throughout the Halloween event, Pumpkaboo will be wearing an exclusive Spooky Festival costume. Fortunately, even in this apparel, Pumpkaboo can appear as shiny in Pokémon GO!

Trainers should also note Pumpkaboo can also be found in four sizes in Pokémon GO: Small, Average, Large, and Super Size. These sizes affect the stat distribution of Pumpkaboo, with its smaller sizes having higher Defense and Attack stats and its larger sizes having higher Stamina stats. Though, in its first form, the gaps in stats might not be that significantly different, when Pumpkaboo evolves into Gourgeist, the discrepancy in power level increases. 

The chance of encountering the bigger variations of Pumpkaboo is slimmer as well, so for trainers interested in catching Pumpkaboo in its Large to Super Size form, it is recommended to use incense when tracking the generation six Pokémon down.
