Is Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin crossplay?
With Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin set to officially be released this week, pulling the curtain back to unveil what aims to be an alternate retelling of the original Final Fantasy rather than a remake, action RPG fans are wondering whether or not they'll be able to experience the title with friends no matter the setting. Here's a breakdown of whether or not Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has cross-platform play.
Does Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Have Cross-Platform?
Unfortunately, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin does not support full-on cross-platform multiplayer.
As stated in a press release last week, "Cross-play is limited to console families, i.e., PS5 and PS4 players may participate in multiplayer together, and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One console players can play together."
Thanks to an interview with the devs from Wccftech, it was also confirmed that those playing Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin on PC will only be available to play with other PC players, and that there are no plans to implement the full functionality at the moment.
Spearheaded by the efforts of developer Team Ninja from Koei Tecmo Games and publisher Square Enix, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin aims to bring a more mature and challenging experience to the iconic JRPG franchise.
Players take on the role of Jack Garland, a man hell-bent on destroying Chaos, as the many memes will tell you. Joined by a few companions, the group journeys on to discover their roles as Warriors of Light.
Similar to the widely-successful Elden Ring, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin invites players to explore plenty of areas throughout the game, as well as engage in difficult, high-intensity battles against foes.
This is where players can call on their friends to help them as the game has a co-op online multiplayer mode. In a group of up to three, players can enjoy the main story and side missions with their friends. In this setting, equipment and other items will drop for each player to loot individually.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin officially launches on Friday, March 18, for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (via Epic Games Store).
