League of Legends 2021 VGU Vote
By Allan Zeng
League of Legends has announced it's long awaited visual and gameplay update vote for 2021 as well as the champions chosen for the poll.
A couple of years ago, Riot Games allowed fans to vote on which champions they wanted to receive special attention throughout the year. The winners, announced in May of 2019, were Volibear and Fiddlestick. This year, the vote returns, and the Champions voters can select will be Udyr, Shyvana, Nocturne, Skarner, and Quinn.
Udyr
Udyr is an older champion that needs a visual update as much as a buff. He has a famous form swapping mechanic that allows him to modify his melee attacks. Riot will be looking to give each form of his added meaning so players don't get locked in on just one of his forms.
Quinn
Quinn feels like a waste of potential as of now. Her gameplay doesn't live up to her fantasy and promise of being a "Demacian ranger working in perfect sync with a trained warhawk." If she's chosen, it's likely her kit will be changed so it feels more like she's teaming up with Valor, her warhawk, as opposed to using him as a missile-like weapon.
Shyvana
Shyvana was actually part of the last poll and almost won, so consider her a frontrunner. If she is chosen, expect Riot to give buffs to her dragon form to make it feel more destructive and unique compared to her human form.
Nocturne
Nocturne is a popular choice for new players, yet is also dropped by many as they gain experience. If he is selected Riot will most likely update his base kit, as his iconic ultimate is fine as is. Expect him to receive a visual update as well.
Skarner
Skarner is a highly unpopular champion and will likely receive the biggest change if he is the winner. They will most likely reimagine both his kit and theme and possibly his backstory and lore as well. As of now, he's a master of none champion, so expect him to be rebuilt from the ground up.
