By Daniel Mejia
League of Legends Preseason 2023 will include a variety of changes for the upcoming launch of Season 13.
With the end of Season 12 quickly approaching in Riot Games' flagship MOBA, League of Legends, many players are left wondering what comes next. Those that assume that Season 13 will release directly after the end of Season 12 are incorrect as there is actually a preseason in between seasons.
The preseason will give players a taste of what Riot Games has cooked up for roughly three months to playtest the changes made. For players wondering just what those changes are, look no further.
Here is everything we know so far about League of Legends Preseason 2023.

One of the biggest changes to come in Preseason 2023 will be the changes made to jungling. Junglers can now pick up one of three pets which gives players a variety of buffs depending on the pet that was chosen. There are also now leashing markers that show players how far a monster camp can be dragged out without lowering the patience bar.
The Chemtech drake, a dragon that was previously removed from the game, will be making a return. This dragon has been reworked since players last saw it. The Chemtech drake will give players tenacity and boost healing when killed.
There will also be 12 items that are either added to the game or changed in some way. Longtime players will recognize a few of these items:
- Icathia’s Endurance
- Radiant Virtue
- Iceborn Gauntlet
- Goliath’s Ascendiary
- Rod of Ages
- Catalyst of Aeons
- Abyssal Mask
- Sunfire Aegis
- Turbo Chemtank
- Randiun’s Omen
- Spear of Shojin
- Ravenous Hydra
