League of Legends Smolder Abilities, Release Date

League of Legends' newest champion, Smolder, had his abilities and release date confirmed by Riot Games ahead of Season 2024 kicking off on Jan. 10.

Per Riot, "Smolder is a young Camavoran imperial dragon, keep to grow up and eager for any excuse to practice his burgeoning abilities. Though still a fledgling, Smolder's skills are nothing to seeze at, setting fire to anything that burns." Many expect Smolder to operate as an AD carry in the bot lane, though players know that the community will find ways to flex champion releases into other roles based on viability.

Here's a breakdown of Smolder's abilities:

Passive - Dragon Practice: Hitting champions with Abilities and killing enemies with Super Scorcher Breath grants Smolder a stack of Dragon Practice. Stacks increase the damage of Smolder's basic Abilities

Q - Super Scorcher Breath: Smolder belches flames at his enemies. This Ability evolves with the stacks gaining the following:

• 25 Stacks: Damages all enemies surrounding the target
• 125 Stacks: Sends explosions behind the target that deal 75% of this spell's damage
• 225 Stacks: Burns the target dealing max Health true damage over three seconds. Enemy champions that drop below a total health threshold are killed instantly

W - Achooo!: Smolder lets out an adorable flaming sneeze, damaging and slowing enemies hit. Hitting champions causes an additional explosion

E - Flap, Flap, Flap: Smolder takes flight, gaining Move Speed and ignoring terrain for 1.25 seconds. While flying, Smolder attacks the lowest health enemy

R - MMOOOMMMM!: Smolder's mom breathes fire from above, dealing extra damage and slowing enemies in the center of her fire. Smolder's mom also heals her son if she hits him

Smolder's abilities are relatively similar to Aurelion Sol, so possible synergies with the two dragon champions should be interesting to experiment with.

League of Legends Smolder Release Date

Smolder will be released in League of Legends Patch 14.3. Patch 14.3 is currently slated for release on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
