Legacy Challenge Pokemon GO: How to Get the Gyarados Hat
By Jack O'Dwyer
Legacy Challenge in Pokemon GO is an exclusive Timed Research quest line for trainers who've already hit the current level cap.
Niantic Labs announced that it would be increasing the in-game level cap on Pokemon GO from 40 to 50 on Nov. 18 via its official news blog. To celebrate this, the company put together a Timed Research plotline for veteran trainers to relish in their accomplishments over the past four years. The quests will be available from Dec. 1 through to Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. and will only appear for trainers at the current cap.
Those under 40 may want to focus this week on their virtual grind to access the unique legacy rewards this month.
Legacy Challenge Pokemon GO
The Legacy Challenge has four main quests to complete with three tasks each. The tasks, themselves, are less of a true "challenge" and more of a way for Niantic to reward its most diligent trainers.
First Quest
The tasks for the first quest are:
- Power-up a Pokemon 10 times
- Catch 15 Pokemon
- Make 5 Nice Throws
Rewards include a total of 2000 experience, 2000 stardust, three Star Pieces, and an encounter with Rufflet.
Second Quest
Tasks for the second quest include:
- Catch 15 different species of Pokemon
- Transfer 10 Pokemon
- Use 15 Pinap Berries while catching Pokemon
Rewards for this part of the line are 2000 stardust, 2000 experience, three Premium Raid Passes, and one Unova stone.
Third Quest
These are the final real tasks trainers need to perform in the Legacy Challenge:
- Make 3 Great Curveball throws
- Win 3 Raids
- Give your Buddy 10 Treats
The rewards for part three are 2000 stardust, 2000 experience, three Super Incubators, and one Sinnoh stone.
Final Quest
There are no tasks for this part of the Timed Research line—just rewards! Trainers will receive 10,000 stardust, 1000 experience, an encounter with Deino, an encounter with Archen, and the anticipated research-exclusive Gyarados Hat.
