The Mischief Unbound quest has many steps that need to be explained. As one major aspect of this event is that players must complete the season-long quest Misunderstood Mischief in order to complete this end of the Season of Mischief event.

Misunderstood Mischief Quest
Before beginning on the steps of Mischief Unbound, one must complete the steps of Misunderstood Mischief, or pay $4.99 via in-game store to gain access to Mischief Unbound event.
There are a total of 16 steps from the Misunderstood Mischief special research quest which can be completed until Dec. 1 at 9:59 a.m. local time.

But ultimately, to be able to participate in the Mischief Unbound event, a player must have acquired the pokemon Hoopa, as trainers will understand that one of the major rewards of the event is to gain an extra form of the pokemon.
The Mischief Unbound research quest has no expiration date, allowing players to complete each task within their own free time within the event.
1. Mischief Unbound Step One
Take a snapshot of Hoopa by opening your Pokemon storage tapping on Hoopa. On the right-hand side of the screen at the top of this menu, there's a small camera icon just below the "Favorite" star. Once you take the snapshot the player can earn 1000 Stardust.
Catch 20 Pokémon and gain one Lucky Egg.
Spin three PokéStops of Gyms and receive 3000 XP.
Once completed, a player’s rewards are one Incense, one Poffin, and three Golden Razz Berry.
2. Mischief Unbound Step Two
Make seven Curveball Throws in a row to earn 1500 Stardust.
Use 20 Berries to help catch Pokémon and gain one Star Piece.
Complete 10 Field Research Tasks to gain 3000 XP.
Once completing step two, a player will be Rewarded one Incense, one Super Incubator, three Silver Pinap Berry, and ability to change Hoopa forms.
3. Mischief Unbound Step Three
Earn seven Hearts with your buddy and earn 2000 Stardust.
Catch 20 different species of Pokémon and receive Premium Raid Passes.
Win three raids to earn 4000 XP.
After completing the final step, a player will be rewarded with 50 Hoopa Candy, 10,000 Stardust, and Hoopa T-Shirt Avatar Item.
Even though many of the rewards seem small in terms of importance or rarity, many of them have proven to be useful for players later on, especially when gaining a lot of Stardust. As Stardust proves to be quite necessary when players would like to change the form of Hoopa.
