Modern Warfare 3 developers just teased the return of slide canceling in an unexpected way.

Countless leaks regarding Call of Duty 2023, rumored to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, have already surfaced in the past month. Reports claim the Ninja Perk and classic minimap, including red dots, are making their return to the title, along with War Mode.

As the release draws closer, the developers have begun subtly confirming some aspects of MW3. They already revealed that all Bundles, Operators, and weapons from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will carry over to the new title, and now, they are stepping in to tease the return of slide cancelling.

Modern Warfare 3 Developers Tease Slide Cancel Return

On Aug. 6, a handful of popular Warzone professional players and content creators received a mysterious package from the Modern Warfare 3 developers that teased the slide cancel return. The package contained a pair of slides, a can, and a cell phone.

The items are meaningless on their own, but when put together, they spell out slide cancel. Then, cryptic text messages were sent to the burner phone. One of the messages, read by Tyler "TeeP" Polchow, stated, "I was barely able to get out of the prison. No time to explain. Use these items to prepare for what's to come."

The return of slide canceling conjures mostly positive feedback from the Call of Duty community. After MW2 did not feature the mechanic, fans were begging for its return, especially in Warzone.

When is the Modern Warfare 3 Reveal?

The Modern Warfare 3 reveal will take place during Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5. The in-game event will require players to join the Shadow Company to secure a chemical weapon threat before it is too late.

According to reliable leaker, HeyImAlaix, the official reveal is coming on Thursday, Aug. 17. Leaked images show a tagline that reads, "Don't miss the worldwide reveal of Modern Warfare III. August 17 in Warzone."

Modern Warfare 3 Release Date

Modern Warfare 3 is rumored to release on Nov. 10, 2023. Activision has not confirmed the date, though, so the timeline is subject to change.

The new title will be available to play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
