Do NBA 2K21 buyers get next-gen upgrades? Upgrades for 2K21 can be confusing, so here's everything you need to know to get the next-gen upgrade for NBA 2K21.
NBA 2K21 will be released for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will also come to PS5 and Xbox Series X, but you'll have to buy the game again unless you get the Kobe Bryant themed Mamba Forever edition.

NBA 2K21 Free Upgrade: Do Buyers Get Next-Gen Upgrades?
On current-gen, the game will cost $60. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will set you back $70. The Mamba Forever edition costs $100, but you get access to the game for the respective next or current-gen console. In addition to dual access, you'll get a bunch of digital in-game goodies for the version you got.

- 40 MyTEAM Promo Packs (10 at launch, then 3 per week)

- 5 pair MyCAREER Shoe Collection
- MyPLAYER backpack
- Kobe Bryant Digital Collection
You'll also get another 100,000 Virtual Currency when next-gen releases only if you get Mamba Forever on current-gen.
The confusing part is which version you need to get. 2K detailed everything on the official website's FAQ. According to the FAQ page for the game:
When do I get my next-gen version of NBA 2K21 if I buy the current-gen version of NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition?
When you purchase NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One digitally, a digital copy of the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 will be added to the same PlayStation or Xbox account. It will be playable once NBA 2K21 has launched on the respective next-gen console later this year.
When you purchase NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One physically, your next-gen copy of NBA 2K21 will be bundled in a code included in the box that contains all of the additional content from the Mamba Forever Edition. Once you redeem the content, a digital copy of the game will be added to the same PlayStation or Xbox account. It will be playable once NBA 2K21 has launched on the respective next-gen console later this year.

Basically, all of the digital bonuses come for the version of the game you bought and you'll get a standard version of the other. It seems weird that you won't be able to play the game on current-gen when it releases if you buy a physical next-gen copy.
NBA 2K21 will release on Sept. 4, and then for next-gen when those release in Holiday 2020.
