NBA 2K22 Events: Everything You Need to Know
By Jack O'Dwyer
Curious about events in NBA 2K22? Here's what to expect.
Like any supported release, NBA 2K22 has a selection of events players can join in for fun, bragging rights, and special rewards. Some require players to play matches, others ask them to earn points, and a few just want to encourage a bit of fun. All of them, however, will reward participants with bonuses and items as long as they meet the requirements.
NBA 2K22 Events: Everything You Need to Know
NBA 2K22 events are opportunities for players to earn special rewards and enjoy limited time buffs to their experience and, potentially, their VC. Typically, participating and playing well in NBA 2K events gives players new music, cosmetic items, and more. There are several different types of events with each having its own criteria and rules to participate. While most are open to any player, some do require a specific progress threshold such as MyPoints amount.
We've explained some examples below:
Ruffles Ridge Tournament of Champions has been a running event for several iterations of NBA 2K. However, this competition is unique as it has a real-world component sponsored by Ruffles chips. Specialty marked bags of Ruffles have "Bag Codes" which can be redeemed for Locker Codes in-game.
Ultimately, it operates as a normal tournament with players needing to register and compete for their chance to win. A valid 2K account is required. Winners of this event can earn real-world prizes such as headphones, televisions, custom controllers, and more. The prizes and dates for the matches change with every tournament.
Club 2K events give players the opportunity to earn new music and new in-game gear while benefiting from a 2X reputation boost. The club, itself, is a real location in The City, which players can visit.
Mobil 1 Grand Prix is described as "It’s a race to the finish line!" While this is a "racing" game, the player's progress around the track is determined via MyPoints. The more points one accumulates, the further down the track they go. The first three players to reach the "finish line" will win.
Court Conqueror comes in several flavors such as 2v2, 3v3, and so on. The most important criteria of this event is the number of players allowed on each team. The game will matchmake each account's MyPlayers in a match against the game's AI piloting players from other real-world NBA teams.
Other minor events such as "Set Sail" have much simpler requirements such as playing on a specific court to take advantage of a boost to experience or other resources.
