NBA 2K22 Limitless Spot-Up and Chef Badges Explained
In NBA 2K22, there remains no true successor to the longtime beloved Limitless Range/Range Extender Shooting Badge from past titles.
While Chef and Limitless Spot-Up seems on paper to be a split-up version of the OG Badge, players are quickly discovering that they don't seem to be activating in the situations that they are accustomed to. For those wondering what these two brand-new options are for, here's a breakdown of the Limitless Spot-Up and Chef Badges in NBA 2K22 MyCareer on Current Gen and Next Gen.
NBA 2K22 Limitless Spot-Up and Chef Badges Explained
First off, here are the current in-game descriptions of the two Badges in NBA 2K22:
- Chef: Gives a boost to the range that a player can effectively shoot off-the-dribble three-point attempts.
- Limitless Spot-Up: Gives a boost to the range that a player can effectively shoot standing three point shots.
As such, most assume that they simply need to equip both to have the same effects of the Limitless Range/Range Extender from previous titles.
However, this is unfortunately not the case at the moment due to what is required to activate them.
With the traditional Limitless Range/Range Extender Badge, players using them received a boost to all of their jump shots moving or not, from anywhere outside of the paint.
However, with both Chef and Limitless Spot-Up the issue is that they both only work if players are taking threes from at least 30 feet away from the hoop, which is a good two or three dribbles behind the three-point line. This also means that shooting from the beloved hash mark doesn't work for the Badges as well.
On top of that, in order to activate the two new Badges, players have hidden criteria they need to meet for them to activate:
- Chef: Player must have the ball in their hands for at least two seconds, move for at least 0.5 seconds and shoot 30+ feet away from the basket (moving or quick stop).
- Limitless Spot-Up: The shot must be a catch-and-shoot within one second of receiving the pass, 30+ feet away from the basket.
Thankfully, however, it seems there are plans to make the Limitless Spot-Up Badge function more like the Limitless Range/Range Extender Badge of old titles in a future patch, according to NBA 2K Gameplay Director Mike Wang on Twitter.
For now, if the Limitless Spot-Up and Chef Badges sound like they fit your play style, feel free to use them.
