New League of Legends Champion Roadmap Arrives Next Week
"In January, we told you that three champions after Viego will be connected with his return. Gwen is one of them, though her future is still a mystery. She plays an important role in this complicated story, but what exactly it is…we still don't know yet."
The developers go on to expand on what their current plans for Dr. Mundo are. They claim that Mundo's voice sounds "smarter" and while they want to keep the "doctor" aspect of his character, they still want him to keep his dark yet comedic style. They attributed the rework to taking a while due to how many skins Mundo has.
Regarding the upcoming champions that are related to the Ruined King, right now the team is using the names "Sentinel of Light" and "Street Gangster" to refer to them.
The Sentinel of Light is said to be a mid-lane attack-damage carry. While some ADCs like Corki, Tristana, and Lucian do make an appearance in the middle lane, the team wants this champion to have the necessary tools to go roaming and be able to have a solo lane.
"We think midlane maskman is a unique role in our champion lineup, and it can attract some players who enjoy midlane assassins or fighters."
Later on, the Sentinel of Light is hinted to play a big role in Senna and Lucian's story.
As for the "Street Gangster" champion, she will allegedly be a "bad temper Yordle" who will need some more time. As such, she will be released after the Sentinel of Light and not the other way around. The team says that her identity is changing from an artillery mage to a traditional mage instead.
The last item to be mentioned in this is the upcoming Udyr rework. This rework is in the early development stages, which is why it does not appear in the developer blogs. But, it will be mentioned in "a few months."
It ends encouraging players to look forward the new upcoming marksman (for the bot lane) however announcement dates for the release of the other champions mentioned have not been stated as of now.
