New Rampart/Seer Glitch Completely Crashes Lobbies in Apex Legends
By Jack O'Dwyer
A newly discovered glitch in Apex Legends allows a duo of Rampart and Seer to completely crash any match.
As if Seer couldn't be over-powered enough—now, players are reporting that he has the ability to crash lobbies with a little help from Rampart. We certainly don't remember seeing this in the Season 10 patch notes. Additionally, due to its niche and bizarre nature, it's possible that players who take part in the glitch aren't even aware they're doing it. Although, with Rampart's traditionally low pick rate, we would encourage players to be wary of an uptick in Ramparts when paired with Seer.
Here's what we know about this potentially catastrophic glitch in Apex Legends.
New Rampart/Seer Glitch Completely Crashes Lobbies in Apex Legends
The glitch was brought to light via a post published on the official Apex Legends subreddit board by user veryuncreative_name on Saturday, Aug. 7. The post included a short clip of two players recreating the glitch in-game for demonstration purposes, as well as a caption describing it as "DDoS like."
"By putting a Sheila on top of Seer's Ultimate and having anyone using it while the ultimate ends, it HARD CRASH the server and KICKS EVERYONE out without ANY reconnect chances." The user explains.
Sure enough, that's exactly what happens in the video. Rampart drops Sheila in tandem with Seer's ultimate and the game seizes up, freezes, and then ultimately crashes.
Worse yet, according to the post, this glitch can occur in any mode of Apex Legends: Ranked, PUB, and possibly beyond.
For their part, Apex Legends players seem to be taking this as prime comedic material. Several have joked about this simply being part of Seer's kit or a standard of his ultimate ability. It's no secret the new legend is quite overpowered and has been since his launch. Why wouldn't the ability to crash a whole server be included?
Others, however, weren't so keen to express their sense of humor. Instead, they took issue with the fact the glitch was posted in its entirety—a few were upset it was posted at all. Their reasoning was out of concern that it would now be purposefully replicated to an absurd degree and that it should've been quietly reported instead.
"Why the hell would you post this publicly instead of just reporting it to a dev????" User JudJusonEsq wrote.
User BT-6942O added, "Welp now let's just sit back and see how many will abuse this while they can, this will be annoying."
However, XulXl argued, "A lot of people asking why are you posting this. I think it works like that: more people use it= it will get fixed faster."
No Apex Legends devs have commented on the bug at the time of writing.
