New World Classes and Races: Full List

"Classes"

New World does not have a strict definition of classes like World of Warcraft, leaning more towards the Final Fantasy XIV design philosophy of being able to switch your playstyle on the fly.

Classes in New World are based on whatever weapon you are using. The more you use that weapon, the more you advance in the skill tree of that weapon, unlocking more abilities and passive effects to make your proficiency with that weapon more powerful.

If you are a fan of the Life Staff and want to heal, the more you use that Life Staff, the greater access you will have to everything the Life Staff has to offer. With New World's system, you simply advance whatever weapon you like the most.

Crucially, respeccing is free up until level 20, so points you allocate towards intelligence if you prefer casting are not wasted if you want to respec to strength at some point early on.

"Races"

For the big fantasy heads, unfortunately there is no strict race system in New World. Basically, everyone plays as a human, with no access to fantasy races we have come to know like Orcs or Gnomes.

Factions in New World are one way of expressing individuality, with three unique camps to choose from: Covenant, Syndicate, and Marauder. Each faction has their own traits to them, meaning you choose which faction speaks to you the most.
