Nitr0 is Reportedly 'Undecided' on Valorant Future as 100 Thieves Release Coach FrosT
100 Thieves Valorant has released coach Hector “FrosT” Rosario, and Nick “nitr0” Cannella remains undecided on whether he would return to CS:GO, according to a report by George Geddes of Upcomer.
In the report, Geddes added that among the options for nitr0’s potential CS:GO return is Team Liquid.
On Oct. 30, 100 Thieves' 2021 run officially came to end as the team fell in the lower bracket final to the eventual winners of the VCT NA Last Chance Qualifier, Cloud9 Blue.
Alongside Team Envy and Sentinels, Cloud9 Blue are locked in to represent North America at Valorant Champions 2021, the scene's largest and annual culminating event that is set to kick off in Berlin on Dec. 1.
It was truly an unfortunate sequence of events for 100 Thieves, who in Stage 3, gathered major momentum leading up to the semifinals of Masters Berlin.
In the North America Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs to qualify for Stage 3 Masters, 100T looked like the region's clear No. 2 team behind Sentinels, defeating the likes of FaZe Clan, XSET and Team Envy en route to that seed.
Then, early on at Masters Berlin, 100 Thieves' LAN debut lived up to expectations and then some.
In groups, the team went 2-0 in which they handed the formidable Gambit Esports their only defeat at the event on an absurd 3-11 turnaround on Icebox.
In Map 3 of the Quarterfinals, 100 Thieves then gave EMEA another painful defeat with a 4-10, 7-12 comeback on Breeze over Acend.
From that point on, however, 100 Thieves were eliminated 0-2 to Team Envy in the semifinals. Had Team Envy gone on to defeat Gambit in the grand final, 100 Thieves' spot at Champions would've been solidified.
A couple of weeks before their eventual VCT NA LCQ shortcoming, 100T subbed out IGL Joshua "steel" Nissan with Aaron "b0i" Thao, a move that appears questionable from afar.
Now, with a coaching vacancy, nitr0's availability in question, and steel and Quan "dicey" Tran remaining with the org but inactive, it appears 100 Thieves have some major roster decisions to make ahead of the 2022 season of VCT.
For now, the 100 Thieves Valorant roster remains:
- Spencer "Hiko" Martin
- Nicolas "nitr0" Cannella (IGL)
- Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk
- Ethan "Ethan" Arnold
- Aaron "b0i" Thao
- Johann "seven" Hernandez (Sub)
