OGE Overwatch: 5 Things to Know About LAG's New Signing

The Los Angeles Gladiators have traded Gui-un "Decay" Jang for the Dallas Fuel's Min-seok "OGE" Son, the team announced on Tuesday. With the LA Gladiators having already made a number of changes in the past month, there is a lot to consider for the roster as they prepare for the Overwatch League 2020 season.

OGE Overwatch: 5 Things to Know About LAG's New Signing

1. The Gladiators Now Have the One of the Best Tank Lineups in OWL

Having acquired Indy “SPACE” Halpern from the Los Angeles Valiant last week, the Los Angeles Gladiators now sport a Tank lineup that can arguably be considered the strongest in the entire Overwatch League.

With Tanks remaining to have an essential part in ensuring a team's victory, having both SPACE and OGE leading the team into battle for 2020 puts the Los Angeles Gladiators in a good spot.

2. The Los Angeles Gladiators Are Rebuilding

As mentioned already, the Los Angeles Gladiators have had fair showings in past seasons in the OWL, most recently finishing in 5th-6th place in the 2019 playoffs losing to the eventual champions, the San Francisco Shock. While many other teams in the league could only hope to reach that mark, the LA Gladiators are clearly not satisfied with less than first place.

With their new and improved superstar tank line and departure of players like Chang-hoon "rOar" Gye and João Pedro "Hydration" Goes Telles over the past month, the LA Gladiators are undergoing a rebuild.

3. The Dallas Fuel Also Gain From the Trade

The LA Gladiators are not the only team to benefit from this trade. With the acquisition of Decay, the Dallas Fuel are rebuilding as well.

The Fuel's acquisition of Decay, a respectable flex DPS player with some flashy moments, will fill a hole in the team's lacking DPS lineup that was left with the retirement of Hyeon "EFFECT" Hwang. While they had to sacrifice a beloved tank player in OGE, this certainly won't be the first change in the Fuel's lineup as we approach the OWL 2020 season.

4. The Trade Confirms Roster Leaks

The Los Angeles Gladiators acquiring the pair of OGE and Space ahead of the OWL 2020 season was no secret to those closely following accidental roster leaks from a broadcast with OWL professionals and analysts earlier in the month. The leaks include a number of moves between the Dallas Fuel, the Los Angeles Valiant, the Los Angeles Gladiators, and a number of acquisitions by the Toronto Defiant.

With plenty of time before the start of Overwatch League 2020, this move is potentially not the end of the Los Angeles Gladiator's attempt to form a championship roster.

We can assume that LA Gladiators fan-favorite Lane "Surefour" Roberts will eventually be shipped to the Toronto Defiant, a huge move that will truly change the face and identity of the team. While no official announcement has been made concerning a move with Surefour, the departure of Decay from the Gladiators lineup surely means that the team has plans to acquire more DPS players.
