Original Overwatch Characters: Who Are the Original Heroes of the Game?

Original Overwatch characters are important to remember considering how far the game's roster has come since its May 2016 release.
Overwatch is a first-person shooter developed by Blizzard. The game features a 6-vs-6 base with players competing in multiple game modes. There is a wide array of heroes from which to choose, now totaling 30. Heroes are divided into three categories: Tank, Damage and Support.
Although new faces have joined the fray post-release, who are the original characters from when Overwatch released? Here's everything you need to know.

Here is a list of the original 21 heroes in Overwatch:

- Doomfist
- Genji
- Hanzo
- Junkrat
- Lucio
- McCree
- Mei
- Mercy
- Pharah
- Reaper
- Reinhardt
- Roadhog
- Soldier: 76
- Symmetra
- Torbjorn
- Tracer
- Widowmaker
- Winston
- Zarya
- Zenyatta
Since launch, nine new heroes have been added bringing the total tally to 30. Here are those heroes and their respective release dates:
- Ana - July 19, 2016
- Sombra - Nov. 15, 2016
- Orisa - March 21, 2017
- Doomfist - July 27, 2017
- Moira - Nov. 16, 2017
- Brigitte - March 20, 2018
- Wrecking Ball - July 24, 2018
- Ashe - Nov. 13, 2018
- Baptiste - March 19, 2019
