Overwatch 2 PVP Beta Release Date Announced for April 26
After years of rumors and speculation, fans of Blizzard's team-based multiplayer first-person hero shooter finally have a date for when they can get their first taste of Overwatch 2 gameplay.
The Overwatch 2 PVP Beta is set to begin on April 26, 2022, Blizzard announced Friday.
On March 10, Blizzard initially revealed the sign-up process for a number of Overwatch 2 closed beta tests on the horizon, with the first one set to kick off in late April.
Those who take part will be able to get a hands-on glimpse of all of the features the developers have been working on, including the new hero Sojourn.
Until recently players were left in the dark regarding Sojourn's abilities, knowing only that she appears to wield a railgun. Leaks published earlier this week claimed to reveal several of those abilities, but we have yet to see them in action.
Those invited to the tests will also be able to try some of Overwatch 2's new upcoming maps: Circuit Royale (Escort Map), Midtown (Hybrid Map), New Queen Street (Push Map) and Colloseo (Push Map).
Some of the new hero reworks will also be available to be tested out for Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion and Sombra.
Unfortunately, it does appear that the plan is for the Overwatch 2 beta tests to be conducted on PC-only, with no details shared yet on when console players will be incorporated into the mix.
To sign up, PC players can head to the Overwatch website, log in with their Battle.net account, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Sign Up Now" button.
