Persona 3 Remake Rumored to be in Development
Despite a port of Persona 3 Portable releasing later this month, a leaker has claimed that Atlus are working on a remake for the title.
The claim made via resetera, comes from a user who has reportedly leaked accurate Atlus news in the past. Atlus has released remakes of Persona 3 in the past, in the case of Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, the latter of which will be released as a port on Jan. 19.
When asked why Atlus would release a port, only to announce a remake soon after, the user said, "Because P3P is a cheap port of a PSP game, same as P4G. It's easy money and you can bring the "whole" saga (because, let's be honest, P1 and P2 don't exist) to the new consoles."
According to a report from mynintendonews.com, these new leaks come via the same user who accurately leaked Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal coming to Xbox Game Pass.
This alleged new remake will reportedly feature “Persona 5-like graphics and quality-of-life improvements.”
It's unclear whether this new remake of Persona 3, if it exists at all, will be scheduled for release this year. Atlus has so far only said that they are working on several “unreleased new titles” with no mention of a Persona 3 remake.
Many commenters on resetera have expressed their scepticism, saying "Yes, nothing is physically or legally stopping Atlus from announcing a remake but they are not going to do it the same year they put out the remaster because its not good optics."
