Pokemon GO Giovanni November 2022: How to Beat

Pokémon GO Team Rocket Leader, Giovanni, has created a new squad of Pokémon for the month of November. Periodically, Team Rocket Leaders switch up their roster to throw trainers off. In the past, Giovanni has proven himself to be tougher than Sierra and other Team Rocket Leaders, and this month is no exception. 

After defeating Giovanni, players receive 5,000 Stardust, several Potions, Revives and, if lucky, a Unova Stone. These can be useful when heading into this month's raid bosses.

Especially for trainers who are unprepared, Giovanni and his team can prove to be a real challenge. Here are the Pokémon trainers can expect from Giovanni and some Pokémon trainers can use to structure their team around.

First Pokémon: Persian

Like the anime, Giovanni always has a Persian by his side. Persian's Normal-typing makes it vulnerable against Fighting-type moves. With this mind, here are a few Fighting-type Pokémon that are strong against the Classy Cat Pokémon:

• Lucario: Counter and Aura Sphere
• Machamp: Counter and Dynamic Punch
• Hariyama: Counter and Dynamic Punch

Second Pokémon: Nidoking, Machamp, or Rhyperior

There is a possibility of Giovanni sending out Nidoking, Machamp, or Rhyperior as his second Pokémon. Though these Pokémon are all strong in-battle, pairing them up against the right types can make defeating any of them easy.

Though all these Pokémon are different types, Nidoking, who is a Posion and Ground-dual typed shares weaknesses with Machamp and Rhyperior. With the Fighting-typed Machamp, they are both vulnerable to Psychic moves. The following Pokémon can be used to counter both of these Pokémon.

• Espeon: Confusion and Psychic
• Mewtwo: Confusion/Psycho Cut and Psychic
• Alakazam: Confusion and Psychic

Additionally trainers can choose to include a Water-type Pokémon to their team because it is able to deal super-effective damage to Nidoking and the Rock and Ground-type Rhyperior. Choosing from the following Pokémon can prove to be useful when taking on these Pokémon:

• Swampert: Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
• Samurott: Waterfall and Hydro Cannon
• Mega Gyarados: Waterfall and Hydro Pump

Third Pokémon: Shadow Latios

Giovanni is known to always known to close with Shadow Latios. To counter this Legendary Dragon and Pscyhic-type Pokémon, trainers should stack their team with Bug, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Fairy, or Dark-type Pokémon. Here are some powerful Pokémon that are known to be strong against Latios:

• Dialga: Metal Claw and Draco Meteor
• Garchomp: Dragon Tail and Outrage
• Gengar: Lick and Shadow Ball
• Hydreigon: Dragon Breath and Brutal Swing
