Pokemon GO June 2021 Events: What to Know
By Jacquelyn Li
As May draws to a close and June approaches, trainers should get ready for a new series of events in Pokemon GO. Niantic has already announced some of the events coming in June 2021, including the chosen Community Day Pokemon, Gible.
Currently, Pokemon GO is in the midst of its Luminous Legends Y event, with the debut of Sylveon and increased spawn chances of Shiny Galarian Zigzagoon. This event, along with the Season of Legends event, will be drawing to a close at the end of May. Don't worry, though - Pokemon GO has plenty left in store for the month of June. Here's what we know at the moment.
Pokemon GO June 2021 Events: What to Know
June 2021 Gible Community Day
Niantic has announced that the chosen Pokemon for June's Community Day is none other than the Land Shark Pokemon, Gible.
The Community Day event will occur on Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. As with typical Community Days, you'll encounter Gible much more frequently in the wild, and its shiny rates will be increased. This is a great chance for trainers to obtain a Gible if they don't yet have one, or evolve their Gible into Gabite and Garchomp.
If trainers evolve their Gabite into Garchomp during the event or up to two hours afterward, they'll be rewarded with a Garchomp that knows the exclusive attack, Earth Power.
An exclusive Special Research Story for Gible, Just a Nibble, will also be available in the shop for $1. Like previous Community Day Special Research Stories, purchasing this story will likely allow the trainer to complete missions and earn rewards including Gible encounters.
Giovanni's Shadow Zapdos
Niantic also announced that to make up for Team GO Rocket's recent absence, Shadow Zapdos will return as an encounter when trainers defeat the Team GO Rocket leader, Giovanni.
This event will last from Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. local time. This is a great chance for trainers to acquire a Shadow Zapdos, a legendary Pokemon, if they haven't already done so.
The above is what we currently know about Pokemon GO events coming in June. Be sure to be on the lookout for more event announcements, including Spotlight Hours for the month of June, upcoming Raid battles, and the release of new Pokemon.
