What is Pokémon GO Raid Hour?

Raid Hours are similar to Spotlight Hours: a weekly feature event that showcases a single Pokémon taking over the wild around trainers. Raid Hours follow the same format — once a week on the same day at the same time featuring a single Pokémon. However, instead of simply increasing the spawning rate of the Pokemon for an hour, that featured Pokémon becomes the primary Raid Boss until the event's end.

Raid Hours typically take place on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

Pokémon GO Raid Hours December 2022

December features five raid hours in total:

  • Dec. 7 — Virizion
  • Dec. 14 — Terrakion
  • Dec. 21 — Cobalion
  • Dec. 28 — Kyurem

Virizion is a Grass/Fighting-type Pokémon. It's vulnerable to Flying, Poison, Fire, Psychic, Ice and Fairy. It is resistant to Ground, Rock, Water, Grass, Electric and Dark. Its best counters are:

  • Staraptor (Gust + Brave Bird)
  • Moltres (Wing Attack + Sky Attack)
  • Yveltal (Gust + Hurricane)
  • Rayquaza (Air Slash + Hurricane)
  • Honchkrow (Peck + Brave Bird)

Terrakion is a Rock/Fighting-type Pokémon. It is vulnerable to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass, Psychic and Fairy. It is resistant to Normal, Poison, Rock, Bug, Fire and Dark. Its best counters are:

  • Calyrex (Shadow Rider)  (Confusion  + Psychic)
  • Mewtwo  (Confusion  + Psystrike)
  • Zacian (Crowned Sword)  (Metal Claw + Play Rough)
  •  Hoopa (Unbound) (Confusion +  Psychic)
  • Mewtwo  (Psycho Cut +  Psystrike)

Cobalion is a Steel/Fighting-type Pokémon. It's vulnerable to Fighting, Ground and Fire. It it is resistant to Normal, Steel, Grass, Ice, Dragon, Dark, Poison, Rock and Bug. Its best counters are:

  •  Terrakion  (Double Kick + Sacred Sword)
  •  Reshiram  (Fire Fang + Overheat)
  • Pheromosa  (Low Kick + Focus Blast)
  •  Lucario  (Counter + Aura Sphere)
  • Chandelure  (Fire Spin + Overheat)

Kyurem is a Dragon/Ice-type Pokémon. It is vulnerable to Fighting, Rock, Steel, Dragon and Fairy. It is resistant to Water, Grass and Electric. Its best counters are:

  • Zacian (Crowned Sword)  (Metal Claw + Play Rough)
  • Kyurem (Black)  (Dragon Tail + Outrage)
  • Terrakion  (Double Kick + Sacred Sword)
  • Zacian (Crowned Sword)  (Metal Claw + Iron Head)
  • Palkia  (Dragon Tail + Draco Meteor)
