Pokemon GO Spotlight Guide: Dec. 21, 2021: Snover
By Jack O'Dwyer
Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour has come again and is set to feature the snowy-pine Pokemon, Snover.
Spotlight Hour once again falls on a Tuesday this week—Dec. 21, 2021. It will run from 6 p.m. to 7 pm. and feature Snover, the grass and ice-type. Those who decide to participate will benefit from double the Catch XP per Pokemon.
Here's everything we know about Snover for its Spotlight Hour feature later on Tuesday.
Can Snover be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Yes, Snover can be shiny in Pokemon GO. Therefore, its evolved form—Abomasnow—can also be shiny.
Shiny Snover has a frosty-blue tint to it. Its pale off-white top becomes icy-blue, its tan bottom becomes almost yellow-green, and the green on its arms turns an Aegean or near-cobalt blue. Both Shiny Abomasnow and Shiny Mega Abomasnow follow suit with this coloring.
Snover was first released into Pokemon Go during the 2018 Holiday season event. Its shiny variant debuted the following year on Dec. 24, 2019.
Also known as the "Frost Tree" Pokemon, it is best known for growing berry treats on its trunk in the Spring. Its PokeDex number is #459 and, as a member of Generation IV, it makes its home in the northernmost parts of the Sinnoh region. Snover is one of the few Pokemon that display sexual dimorphism with females having one extra white stripe on their lower body than compared to males.
Best Stats/IV for Snover in Pokemon GO
Snover has the following stats:
- Maximum CP: 1311
- Maximum HP: 142
- Attack: 115
- Defense: 105
- Stamina: 155
Snover's IVs can be partially clocked through its CP value at various levels. While we won't list all the levels, below, we have taken the liberty to post the "perfect IV" value for every 10 levels. These are:
- Level 1: 16 CP
- Level 10: 331 CP
- Level 20: 662 CP
- Level 30: 994 CP
- Level 40: 1159 CP
- Level 50: 1311 CP
Otherwise, trainers can use the in-game appraisal system.
Trainers can choose to evolve their Snover into an Abomasnow using 50 candies.
Best Moveset for Abomasnow in Pokemon GO
The best moveset for Abomasnow contains the quick move Powder Snow and charged move Weather Ball. Both these moves benefit from the Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB) 20% damage buff.
Powder Snow may not do a lot of damage—about 7 damage per second—but it generates 15 energy per second. This allows trainers to cast Weather Ball extremely quickly as the charged move only costs about 21 energy per cast. Weather Ball has a DPS output of around 41.
Abomasnow can be temporarily evolved into its mega form using 200 Mega Abomasnow Energy.
Is Abomasnow Good in Pokemon GO?
Abomasnow has the following stats in Pokemon GO:
- Maximum CP: 2670
- Maximum HP: 186
- Attack: 178
- Defense: 158
- Stamina: 207
As an ice and grass-type, it is strong against ground, water, electric, and other grass-types. It is weak against fighting, flying, poison, rock, bug, and steel with a double vulnerability to fire-types.
It has a solid place in the Great League as one of the main foils to dragon-types and league staples such as Azumarill. Abomasnow is a tanky choice in Pokemon GO that can withstand quite a few hits before it goes down.
