Pokémon GO Ultra League Tier List: Best Pokemon to Use in Ultra League
By Blake Toman
Pokemon GO Ultra League tier list is important to follow if you want to field the best team possible.
The release of Pokémon GO's Battle League on Jan. 29 gave trainers the ability to battle one another from anywhere in the world with their best Pokémon.
With the arrival of the pre-season period for the Ultra League, knowing which Pokémon have the highest win rate and the strong attacks can mean the difference between winning and losing a battle. Here is the Pokémon GO Ultra League Tier List.
Pokémon GO Ultra League Tier 1 Pokémon
- Registeel
- Girantina (Altered Form or Origin Form)
- Mew
- Cresselia
- Swampert
- Machamp
- Regirock
- Mewtwo (Armored)
- Regice
Currently, Girantina and Mew are in the majority of winning compositions in the Ultra League. Both of these are legendary Pokémon, which means finding and aquiring them are incredibly difficult to do and not necessarily possible for all players depending on your region and time dedicated to the game.
While Suicune has also been a hallmark of winning compositions, it can be reasonably replaced with any of the others from this list without really losing anything significant.
Remember, even though you might have a Pokémon on this list, if you have others with better Attack, Defense, and HP stats or a second Charged Move, they will often perform better in a battle.
Pokémon GO Ultra League Tier 2 Pokémon
- Venusaur
- Blaziken
- Gliscor
- Alolan Muk
- Heracross
- Lucario
- Lugia
- Dragonite
- Meganium
- Zapados
The Pokémon in Tier 2 are much more accessible to the average player and still incredibly strong in Ultra League. Venusaur is arguably a candidate for Tier 1 status, but the rarity and strength of some of the Pokémon in Tier 1 push it into Tier 2. You should feel relatively confident taking a team of Tier 2 Pokémon into an Ultra League Battle.
Pokémon GO Ultra League Tier 3 Pokémon
- Flygon
- Suicune
- Typhlosion
- Sceptile
- Snorlax
- Blastoise
- Deoxys (Defense Form)
- Gallade
- Lapras
- Hariyama
There's very little differentiation in strength between the majority of Pokémon in Tier 3. Each has it's unique role in a composition and a specific set of attacks it can bring to the table. With Tier 3 Pokémon, the key is crafting a composition with various types of damage and different roles.
