Pokemon GO Winter Holiday Event 2021 Revealed: All Details Explained

According to a news post published to the official Pokemon GO blog on Thursday, Dec. 9, the Pokemon GO winter holiday event is on its way! This year, like many other events over the course of 2021, the event is split into two separate parts with each spanning a few weeks between Dec. 16 and Dec. 31. Bergmite, the "Ice Chunk" Pokemon, will be making its in-game debut alongside the festivities.
Pokemon GO Winter Holiday Event 2021 Details Explained
Trainers can enjoy the following bonuses for the entire event:
- Open 45 Gifts per day
- Hold 40 Gifts in their inventory bag
- Earn more Mega Abomasnow Energy
- Team GO Rocket Grunts will more commonly have water and ice-type Pokemon
Additionally, a set of reward boxes will be available in the in-game Shop:
- Special Box (480 PokéCoins): 50 Poké Balls, two Premium Battle Passes, two Super Incubators, three Star Pieces
- Ultra Box (1,480 PokéCoins): 25 Ultra Balls, 18 Raid Passes, five Super Incubators, five Incense
- Adventure Box (1,480 PokéCoins): 18 Super Incubators, two Incubators, two Incense, four Star Pieces
Festive avatar items will rotate back into the Shop, as well, starting on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
A Winter Wonderland Mini-Event: Dec. 25—Dec.26
From Saturday, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m., local time, to the following day, Dec. 26, at 8 p.m. local time, trainers can take advantage of extra bonuses in the form of a mini-event. Primarily, these are:
- The ability to trade with others up to 40 km (~25 miles) away.
- Special Field Research tasks reward an encounter with (shiny) Holiday Delibird.
A Collection Challenge will be issued on Dec. 25 as part of the mini-event but can be completed at any time before Dec. 31. Those who complete the challenge will be rewarded with an encounter with Galarian Mr. Mime. The required Pokemon are:
- Swinub
- Snorunt
- Spheal (Doesn’t need to be costumed)
- Snover
- Vanillite
- Cubchoo (Doesn’t need to be costumed)

The first part of the Pokemon GO Holiday event will start on Thursday, Dec. 16, and end on Thursday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. local time. Below, we've broken down each individual aspect trainers can expect:

Pokemon GO Winter Holiday Event 2021: Part 2
The second part of the Pokemon GO Holiday event will pick up immediately after part one on Dec. 23 at 10 a.m., local time. It will run until Friday, Dec. 31.
Bergmite and Avalugg will be making their debuts during this time. Additionally, trainers will receive an extra egg incubator as part of their rewards for spinning their first PokeStop that day.
Two Timed Research storylines will be available with both offering an encounter with Galarian Mr. Mime at the end.
