PUBG Console Developer Update June 2020 Details

PUBG console developer updates allow PUBG Corp to announce in detail more changes after the release of a patch. This month, the update includes information about Ranked mode, anti-cheat, game stability bots and matchmaking.

Ranked Mode

  • PUBG Corp has acknowledged the want of Ranked Solo from the PUBG community. They also acknowledged the want for team placement to count towards rankings in addition to a player's placements.
  • No Ranked Solo or Duos to be added in Season 7. PUBG Corp stated that it would worsen matchmaking as there are already too many game modes and queues in the game. Developers would rather cut game modes first before adding anything new.
  • The earliest a new Ranked mode will be introduced is Season 8.

Anti-Cheat

  • Radar hacks have now been further tackled by developers. A new packet encryption in PUBG Patch 7.3 is meant to help solve this longstanding issue. Only time will tell how effective it is in public matches and Ranked mode.
  • SMS authentication is being highly considered. Regulations that PUBG Corp need to meet is delaying progress longer than anticipated. More information is yet to come as developers are looking into how to implement it.
  • Community Managers can ban highly visible offenders. In North America, a discord was created for players to report and name cheaters. This could be a way for Community Managers to ban cheats who slip through security.

Game Stability

  • After much research and fixing, PUBG Corp has announced that the game is experiencing the lowest crash rate ever since PUBG Patch 6.3.

Bots and Matchmaking

  • Developers are suggesting matchmaking times to be longer to reduce the amount of bots in a game.
  • The suggestion for players to move into NA servers is rejected by developers as it would be unfair to NA players.
  • The front-running solution for developers right now is to reduce queues but could also face backlash depending on what is removed.
