Slaying Dragons Quest Destiny 2: Best Way to Earn Iron Banner Items
By Allan Zeng
The Slaying Dragons Quest in Destiny 2 allows players to earn Iron Banner rewards which are highly sought after for PvP.
The first Iron Banner of Season of the Chosen is debuting Feb. 23, and the Slaying Dragons quest is expected to return as well. So what's the most efficient way to complete it? That's what this guide will tell players.
Slaying Dragons Quest Destiny 2: Best Way to Earn Iron Banner Items
Step 1: Shaped By Iron
After obtaining a quest from Lord Saladin, the first step will ask players to get 30 kills, capture 10 zones, and get five void ability kills. This is one of the easier steps and should be completed over time. To get void ability kills, Hunters should use the Way of the Wraith subclass tree, Titans should use the Code of the Aggressor subclass tree, and Warlocks should use the Attunement of Chaos subclass tree.
Step 2: No Games, No Sympathy
This step requires you to complete six matches, capture 20 zones, and get 25 energy weapon kills. The first two requirements should easily be accumulated over time, while for the third, players just need to find the right gun. A good choice is the exotic fusion rifle Jotunn or the legendary shotgun Felwinter's Lie. But those guns can be hard to obtain, so for newer players, the legendary auto rifle Gnawing Hunger or the legendary pulse rifle Stars in Shadow are good picks.
Step 3: Paying Respects
This step requires players to get 100 kills, capture 30 zones, and get 20 scout rifle kills. This step may take quite a while, and for players unfamiliar with scout rifles, it could prove challenging. The best scout rifle for PVP is probably the exotics Jade Rabbit and Mida Multi-Tool. However, being exotics, new players aren't likely to have these guns. Fortunately there's a great legendary alternative that newer players have access too. Those who complete the New Light quest with Shaw Han will be gifted with the Legendary Scout Rifle Night Watch. This gun is a very solid alternative to the two exotics listed above, and the best choice for newcomers to use for this step.
Step 4: A Tower Rebuilt
This is the next to last step, and will require players to get 15 super kills, capture 40 zones, and get 15 Hand Cannon Kills. For the super kills, any roaming super that players are comfortable with should do just fine. For the second requirement, it'll just be a manner of time. For the last requirement, there are a good number of options. Exotics like Ace of Spades and Last Word are potent choices, and legendaries like Dire Promise and Steady Hand, the second of which is obtained through Iron Banner itself, are solid choices as well.
Step 5: Raising the Banner
This final step requires players to complete 15 matches, capture 50 zones, and get 10 precision kills. The first two can be completed pretty easily with enough time, but the last requirement should be done with certain builds. The best guns to get precision kills with are Sniper Rifles, Hand Cannons, and Pulse Rifles. The Adored Sniper Rifle from the Ritual Quest in Season of the Hunt is an excellent choice, and for Hand Cannons, the options listed in the previous step should suffice. As for pulse rifles, the exotic Vigilance Wing and the legendary Cold Denial, which has become a world drop, will serve well.
After you've competed all the steps, return to Saladin to get rewarded with Iron Banner armor, weapons, and loads of tokens to spend. After that, players are free to compete in Iron Banner however way they like.
