Sorcerer Rogier Quest Guide: How to Get Sorcerer Rogier's Set in Elden Ring
Sorcerer Rogier is one of the most amiable NPCs in Elden Ring, a true heir to the big hat sorcerer line. Rogier can teach the player sorceries and offer sage advice. He ties into some of the longer quests in the game, but his quest line in particular isn't overly involved. Here's how to complete it.
How to Complete Sorcerer Rogier's Quest
You'll first meet Rogier in a chapel in the northwest section of Stormveil Castle. If you proceed north from the Rampart Tower Site of Grace and pass the birds flinging explosive barrels at you, you'll make your way onto some rooftops. Following them along you'll reach a circular hole in the first tower. Drop down and you'll see Rogier by the altar.
Talk through his dialogue and he'll offer to teach you sorceries. The next time you seek him out, it will be on the balcony in Roundtable Hold. You can talk to him there, and to D. for some more information about Rogier's backstory. When you defeat Godfrey and tell him so, he'll hand over Rogier's Rapier.
Sorcerer Rogier Second Location
With Rogier in the Roundtable Hold, return to Stormveil Castle's Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. Head out into the courtyard, then take a sharp right and double back to where you can see a body with an item on it. Approach the edge and you'll see a ledge you can drop to. Continue down and you'll eventually find yourself in a boss fight with a Root Monster.
Kill the Root Monster and continue through the area until you see a giant rotted face with a bloodstain just beside it. View the bloodstain to see a memory of Rogier being injured in the room.
Return to Rogier and ask him about the face. He'll tell you it's Godwyn the Golden, the first demi-god to be killed in the Night of Black Knives.
Head over to Fia and allow her to hold you. You'll likely have a bunch of new dialogue options; run through them all, but those concerning the Black Knifeprint are the most important for Rogier's quest. She'll tell you where you can get the aforementioned Knifeprint — it's in the Black Knife Catacombs far to the northeast in Liurnia of the Lake. To reach it, travel to the Ruined Labyrinth Site of Grave, then follow the road east and north to its end.
Black Knife Catacombs Guide
The Black Knife Catacombs is one of the tricker dungeons in Elden Ring. You can mostly complete it as normal, but in one room you may struggle to find the necromancer that's keeping the skeletons alive. It's the same room with the traps that drop massive blades down from the ceiling.
This is the first trick to this dungeon: You have to step onto the middle giant blade while it's in the ground, then ride it up to a raised platform on the left side. Jump onto there and you'll be able to kill the necromancer and proceed through the dungeon.
Eventually you'll reach what appears to be a dead end. It's actually a fork in the road. On your right you'll be able to drop down into the locked room you likely saw earlier if you missed the lift trick the first time through. That will let you lever open the main boss of the dungeon.
Alternatively, you can strike at the wall at the end of the room to reveal a secret passageway. That passage leads to a fight with a Black Knife Assassin, who will drop the Black Knifeprint on death.
Returning to Rogier
Bring the Knifeprint to Rogier, and he'll tell you to seek out Ranni. She's waiting in the Three Sisters region north at the north end of Liurnia of the Lake. You'll reach it by completing the Carian Royal Manor area. When you reach the region, look for the west-most tower of the three you find. (It's just beyond that dragon.)
Get inside and talk to Ranni at the top of the tower. She won't be so interested in talking, so you'll have to return to Rogier again. He'll tell you to join Ranni's service as a vassal. One more trip to Ranni will let you do just that, beginning her quest line.
How to Get the Spellblade Set
When next you talk to Rogier he'll warn you that he's on the precipice of falling into a deep slumber. If you rest at the Site of Grace in the Roundtable he'll do just that.
Some time after that — it's not clear yet what the trigger is — he'll disappear, leaving behind his Ball Bearing, the Spellblade set he wore, and a letter that reveals the existence of D's younger brother and where to find him.
As far as we know, that's a wrap on Rogier. It's possible there's more to find, but for now there doesn't seem to be a way to keep him around.
