The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Trailers
By Jack O'Dwyer
With every new title release, it's customary that there be a new trailer to go along with it. The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is no different. It's the perfect taste of what's to come in this new Bethesda chapter and doesn't give much away regarding the storyline we'll be following in the Dark Heart of Skyrim. One thing we know for sure: the vampires are back.
Here's what we've gathered from the trailer.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Trailers
There is only one cinematic trailer at the time of writing, but no doubt there will be more to come.
The trailer starts off with the Nord Hero, our stand-in for the Pact, walking through a forest with our good friend Lyris Titanborn. We're not quite sure what Lyris is doing in Skyrim, but it appears she has agreed to accompany us nonetheless. They're with a company of soldiers and clearly are searching for something.
They approach a town covered in suspicious red mist and dead bodies. At the far end of town, Lyris spots some sort of effigy and reaches out to inspect it. The party is almost immediately ambushed by dark fleeting shadows.
The shadows waste no time dispatching soldiers and frightening the group. Fortunately, our Nord Hero is an expert of war, and manages to strike back and take out one of the assailants. Lyris takes out a second, and then a third reveals himself.
With a furious hiss and a baring of fangs, the third attacker disappears into a swarm of bats and flies away. He lands near an underground castle and takes a knee before a large door, which parts and blinds us momentarily with light. A shadow casts itself across the floor and two sharp wings stretch out from the unknown individual's back.
All we see are their glowing red eyes before the trailer cuts to black.
Greymoor Trailer Game Translation
From what the area looks like—and from what's been revealed by Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios (ZOS)—we can say that this trailer takes place in western Skryim near Solitude or Morthal. As such, we can expect tall forests broken by mountains and a marshy areas to wade through.
We can also say that this chapter will focus heavily on vampires. Whether we get a vampire skill line overhaul or new powerful additions is unknown. It wouldn't be surprising, however, as the werewolf skill line has plenty of perks to choose from where the vampires only get two plus an ultimate.
Additionally, the vampire lord has made a reappearance. We can't say whether players will have the chance to experience this form, either.
Perhaps we will get a choice, similar to Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC. Would you choose to hunt the vampires or spend your nights hunting with them?
Greymoor releases on May 18 for PC/Mac and on June 2 for consoles.
