The Grid for the Rocket League Championship Series has been revamped for the winter split. Starting Nov. 12, teams will compete in regional events and weekly grids under new formats. Here is what fans and viewers need to know about The Grid.

The structure of the Grid has been overhauled from the fall. In the fall split, two groups would play in double-elimination brackets to qualify for top-8. Once they were qualified, they would be re-seeded, and play in a single-elimination bracket until a champion was crowned. This winter, teams are split into four groups and play everyone in their pool once. No one is eliminated in this pool play. However, your record in pool play decides your seeding in the 16-team single-elimination bracket. Another format difference is that in the fall, there were nine weeks of The Grid. During the winter, there are only four weeks of The Grid.

There were numerous roster moves in both Europe and North America. Two, however, affect The Grid and the rest of the Championship season the most. The disbandment of teams Barca Esports and Plot Twist.

Plot Twist finished the fall season in 15th place in North America, and would have likely qualified for The Grid again this winter. However, the teammates went their separate ways and were traded different rosters. This left the door open for teams like Down Two Earth to qualify for the North American Grid.

Barca eSports finished the fall split 7th in Europe. The players of the Barcelona roster decided to leave the organization and pursue other teams. Although the qualifiers for the European Grid are not done, Barca Esports would have practically automatically qualified. With the roster now disbanded, European teams are hungry for their chance to prove themselves and qualify for The Grid.
