The Peacekeeper Might Return as Ground Loot in Apex Legends Season 9
By Kaleb Smith
With the exception of the Kraber, a hand full of meta weapons have been ground loot and seen their share of time in the Care Packages of Apex Legends. Now that Season 8 Mayhem has started, the Peacekeeper is on its way to sharing the same amount of Care Package time as its sister-shotgun, the Mastiff. By the start end of this season, each will have been in the Care Package for four seasons, the first four belonging to the Mastiff and the latter to the Peacekeeper.
While we're still a long ways away from Season 9, Respawn has hinted that the Peacekeeper may return to its ground loot roots. This fan favorite gun has seen a number of changes since it entered the Care Package weapon pool, such as a permanent Digital Threat optic and Precision Choke, so its return would likely see a major nerf.

Respawn's decision to leave the Peacekeeper in the Care Package loot pool this season actually had less to do with the weapon itself, and more with the 30-30 Repeater entering the into the mixture of ground loot.
"This season we decided to keep the care package contents the same to allow for the meta to settle in with the addition of the 30-30, a weapon that has a somewhat similar charging mechanic," wrote Eric Canavese, Gameplay Designer at Respawn. "We know the peacekeeper is a fan favourite and is one of the first weapons we consider coming out of the care packages each season so keep an eye out in the future!" No comment on the mastiff returning to the Care Package in exchange was made here.
We'll likely receive no mid-season loot pool changes in regards to weapons. Season 9 looks to be the next time we'll see a weapon loot pool change.
