The Trident in Apex Legends: Everything You Need to Know
The Trident can be found on Olympus and Storm Point in Apex Legends. Here's everything you need to know about the dynamic vehicle.
The Trident, the first vehicle to be added to Apex Legends, is a three-man hovercraft best used to help get you around some of the game's largest maps. On Storm Point in particular, it's extremely useful. For some players, though, vehicles in Battle Royale games can feel clunky or even a bit confusing for how best to use them. Below, we've listed everything you need to know about the Trident, including what you can and can't do with this particular vehicle.
So, how do they work in Apex Legends?
How Do Tridents Work in Apex Legends?
Tridents will spawn in marked locations on the map. As long as they haven't been used, you'll be able to pinpoint exactly where they are. Head straight there if you want to be one of the first ones in. Each Trident can hold one driver and two passengers. Respawn have been careful not to overpower the vehicle, therefore it possesses no offensive capabilities. You'll need to rely on your passengers if you want to do any damage. Passenger players can shoot or use healing items while riding the vehicle.
The two passengers must be from the same squad as the driver in order to enter the vehicle, but players can exit at any time. Drivers will enter third-person mode in Apex Legends, making operating the machine a little bit easier.
Despite the Trident's lack of offensive capabilities, certain abilities will have special interactions with the vehicle. These include:
- Rampart's Emplaced Minigun "Shiela" (also allows a 4th person to be on the vehicle if someone mounts it).
- Caustic's Nox Gas Trap
- Gibraltar's Dome of Protection
- Lifeline's D.O.C. Heal Drone
If your Trident gets hit, 20% of all damage is transferred to all players inside the vehicle. Of course, enemies can still directly hit players for full damage. Fortunately, the Trident can't be destroyed through any means other than dropping off of the map. Should this happen, all riders will be ejected to safety - how nice.
If you fancy customizing your Trident, Holo-Sprays can be applied without taking up any space from an ability.
It's worth noting that certain areas cannot be accessed by the Trident. For example, the vehicle cannot enter the Void and certain areas blocked by a yellow barricade (only visable to the driver) cannot be entered (but can be jumped over).
This is, essentially, all you'll need to know about operating the Trident in Apex Legends. Test it out in your next match, if you haven't had the chance to already.
