The Witcher: Monster Slayer AR Mobile App is Looking For Early Access Players
By Jack O'Dwyer
Spokko Games, the developer behind the next augmented-reality (AR) app featuring CD Projekt Red's (CDPR) The Witcher, is looking for Early Access players on Android.
Originally announced in August 2020, CDPR and Spokko Games are officially soft launching their AR mobile app, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, at a closed Early Access stage. The decision was announced via the game's official Twitter account on Thursday, April 22, explaining that players can register to be chosen for their copy going live this summer.
Unfortunately, however, there's a bit of a catch.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer Android Early Access
The Witcher: Monster Slayer will only be open to Android users at this time. The game will eventually be available on the Google Play store to a select few users.
Interested potential players will need to sign-up via the game's website. Again, not everyone who signs up will win access to this "closed beta" stage of development. Only a portion of players will be chosen to become the first Android Witchers. Eligible players will need a valid Google Play account and know their phone's brand and model to register.
So far, the game has debuted in a handful of countries including Singapore, New Zealand, Russia, and Australia.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer takes after other mobile games of its kind by bringing the cornerstones of the beloved franchise into the real world. Players will need to step into the role of a true Witcher to keep civilians safe by hunting and slaying the monsters invading their neighborhood. The game will feature first-person combat, quests, and systems well-known to the main series games.
There is no confirmed date of release at the time of writing. Additionally, DBLTAP cannot verify a date and time for the Android Early Access launch at this time.
