Valorant Red Bull Home Ground: Everything You Need to Know
The Red Bull Home Ground Valorant tournament will feature a bracket of eight teams. Seven of these teams will be invitees, while the final spot will go to a qualifier entrant. The top four placing teams will earn money from the prize pool.
The Valorant teams currently invited to Red Bull Home Ground are Futbolist, G2 Esports, Guild Esports, Ninjas In Pyjamas, SUMN FC, and Team Liquid. The seventh invitee has yet to be decided.
The eighth entrant will be determined by a 64-team open tournament that serves as the last chance qualifier.
Once the eight teams have been decided, they will enter a single-elimination bracket with matches being best-of-five. To throw a twist to the tournament's format, teams will select their best map to be their "home ground" before the start of each match. If a team wins a game on both their own and their opponent's home ground, they will automatically take the match.
The first two games of each match will be played on both teams' home grounds. If one side takes the first two games, the match is immediately ruled a 2-0 victory. If the first two games are split, the match will continue as a best-of-five.
Valorant Red Bull Home Ground's unconventional rules add pressure on teams to not fall behind early in matches. Reverse 3-0's are out of the question in Red Bull Home Ground, so responses to first game defeats must be quick and thorough. The single-elimination format raises the intensity, minimizing any room for mistakes.
Valorant Red Bull Home Ground will be streamed live on twitch.tv/redbull from Jan. 28-31. Sign-ups for the open qualifier tournament are ongoing until tomorrow.
