Warzone 2 Reveal Possibly Planned for Friday
Industry leaker Tom Henderson says Activision plans to announce Warzone 2 Friday, Feb. 11, giving players their first look at the highly anticipated follow-up.
Henderson says influencers have been privy to information about the game in the past few days, and the embargo around the game lifts Friday. Henderson doesn't know exactly what to expect from the announcement, but he seemed positive something was coming.
"I expect it could just be a blog post announcing Warzone 2 is a thing with some details," he tweeted Friday morning. "There was no trailer or anything shown to the creators, so I'm not really expecting that."
The Warzone sequel has been built "from the ground up," to solve problems stemming from the integration of Black Ops Cold War, per Henderson. He offers few details, but says the new game will feature a field of view option up to 120, a setting the original Warzone never offered because of technical limitations. Henderson also says Modern Warfare 2 will arrive alongside Warzone 2, though it's unclear if the launch dates will coincide.
Modern Warfare and original Warzone developer Infinity Ward tweeted Feb. 3 that a "new generation of Call of Duty" was on its way. After the Henderson's first tweets about Warzone 2 went live, the developer tweeted a popular gif of Antonio Banderas reacting with surprise and amusement to something he sees on a computer, possibly implying the spoiling of its planned surprise.
Henderson has since leaked that rapper Snoop Dogg could become an operator in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone.
So if a reveal is coming Friday, when will it arrive? One possible option is during the Call of Duty League Match Preshow Ranked Play Roundtable scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. ET.
