Warzone Assault Rifle Tier List July 2020
By Chaz Frazer
Warzone Assault Rifle Tier List for July 2020 is here, and with the recent nerfs and buffs in the huge update from Tuesday - especially to everyone’s favorite Grau 5.56 - it's time to reevaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each weapon. Expect movement within the list as some have moved up or down, and for some surprises as well.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is unique in that you can bring your personal create-a-class loadouts into the game via supply drops. While certain guns spawn on the ground and you can find others in the form of blueprints out of loot boxes, these weapons are on rotation and you won't find every weapon in the game spawning in Warzone at one given time. For the purpose of this tier list, we’ll focus on all the weapons that you can bring into the game via loadout, kitted out to specifications to take advantage of the weapons strengths as much as possible.
Warzone AR Tier List - July 2020
S Tier
Grau 5.56
The Grau received heavy nerfs to its damage range, recoil pattern and long-range barrel attachments. Although noticibly nerfed, the changes were minor, and the damage range nerf in particular makes it so the weapon takes one extra bullet to kill at ranges between 25 and 50 meters.
Although the recoil patterns were nerfed, the weapon is still extremely controllable when looking to laser enemies down range, and players should have no trouble adjusting to the new recoil magnitude at all.
With the amazing recoil pattern and excellent iron sights, the Grau on one hand is still an amazing choice to bring into Warzone, but now has some serious competition to make note of.
Kilo 141
While the Grau 5.56 was significantly touched, the Kilo 141 was not in any way. This brings the Kilo in between the Grau and M4A1. With the nerf to the Grau's damage range, the Kilo now has better range than either of the aforementioned weapons, and also does more damage mid-range than either of the other two.
With the ability to attach a 100 round drum to the Kilo for maximum ammo spray, the Kilo is now an excellent choice and substitute for the Grau in many cases. Downsides to this weapon include that the recoil pattern veers to the left instead of the usual pattern of to the right in Call of Duty, and adjusting to this may take some time or throw off your shots and aim if not aware.
FAL
In the first month of Warzone the FAL was a powerful weapon with a high learning curve that was soon overtaken by the likes of the Grau, M13, and Ram 7. With Tuesday's update, the FAL was buffed to include a new damage range up close up to 19 meters that give the semi-auto weapon a damage profile of 78 to the upper torso, and 105 damage to the head - on an enemy with no armor that is a one shot kill!
This damage profile kills fully armored players almost twice as fast as any other weapon in the game up close, including the Fennec and MP5. Seriously, check this out, put it on one of your classes and try the new FAL out in-game.
A Tier
M13
If there was any weapon to be considered a pure laser beam outside of the Grau, it would be the M13. Super strong at range with very little recoil, the M13 sports some of the lowest DPS for assualt rifles in the game, but the rate of fire makes up for it significantly if you miss shots.
Definitely a strong choice for dealing with multiple enemies.
Ram 7
A personal favorite in Multiplayer, the Ram 7 was introduced as a direct competitor to the M4A1, and in some respects performs even better than the previous king of Multiplayer weapons and pros choice. In Warzone it is overshadowed by the top tier weapons, but if you can control the abnormal recoil is very accurate and can shred armor in milliseconds.
M4A1
The previous Multiplayer go-to weapon of pros and try-hards alike, the M4A1 in Warzone is not as strong due to the long lines of sight and engagements on the Verdansk map. At mid-ranges where it excels, expect to have a weapon that can go toe to toe with any other.
CR-56 AMAX
Coming into the game in season 4 as a better version of the AK-47, the CR-56 AMAX when kitted with the 10 round M67 DMR Ammo Conversion creates an absolute monster. Pair the weapon with the VLK Rogue 3.0 sight for maximum control and go for headshots to decimate your enemies.
Dealing 100 damage to the head is a guaranteed 1-shot kill against an unarmored opponent.
B Tier
AK-47
The AK-47 sports some of the highest damage for an Assault Rifle in Call of Duty, and can be kitted to help mitigate its recoil. Focus on underbarrel and rear grip attachments to reduce recoil as it is difficult to control at distance.
Oden
By now, we are all tired of looking for a weapon in Warzone only to come across a bare-bones Oden on the ground or some useless weapon blueprint in a loot crate. While the Oden sports the highest DPS out of any full-auto assault rifle in the game, its paltry 20 round magazine is hard to overlook. The patch on Tuesday gave players an extra magazine to start with when picking up the weapon, but actually making a consious choice to use it in-game is hard to sign off on.
C Tier
FR 5.56
The FR 5.56 is a weapon that is as unforgiving as it has potential. Great damage profile, and the ability to notch a 2 burst kill should you not miss. If any bullets from the burts do miss their mark, expect to die, repeatedly. The burst delay and unforgiving nature of the weapon makes the TTK plummet should you miss, and you can be statistically killed multiple times over if so.
