Warzone Season 5 Download Reportedly Available for Pre-Load

Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 5 patch, 1.24, is currently available for pre-load, according to Twitter user Modern Warzone. This is the first time the developers have allowed players to access their content before the start of the season.
Players can find the massive 36GB update ready to be downloaded now, but it will not be installed onto platforms until the official start of the season on Aug. 5 at 2 a.m ET. The goal of this is to cut down on the time needed to implement patches as the game has come under fire in the past for its increasing file size.
Warzone Season 5 Download Reportedly Available for Pre-Load
The reason for the large size of the patch was noted in a Twitter thread made by Infinity Ward's production director, Paul Haile, on Aug. 2. In the thread, he explains that this patch 1.24 is supposed to optimize the entire game and eventually decrease the space it takes up on consoles altogether.
"We're including all the new content for the season as well as optimizing our asset packs. This means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we're adding a bunch of new content for the season," Haile wrote.
He went on to say that the team will continue to prioritize reducing the size Modern Warfare and Warzone take up on hard drives. Players will likely continue to see updates of this size with future patches alongside more content.
Players can find Warzone Version 1.24 ready to be pre-loaded at the time of writing.
