The limited-time mode, Snowball Fight, is coming back to Valorant this year. But, what is it and how does it work?

Recently, Riot Games held an online poll asking fans which festive game mode they would like to see return to Valorant this year. The choices were Escalation, Replication, or Snowball Fight. The final vote count saw Snowball Fight win by a landslide, meaning this fan-favorite is back for another year. Newer players to Valorant might not have had the chance to check this game mode out in the past and, therefore, might be wondering how it works.

Below, we've detailed everything you need to know about Valorant's Snowball Fight limted-time mode.

What is Snowball Fight in Valorant?

Simply put, Snowball Fight is a 5v5 team deathmatch-style mode where the objective is to be the first team to 50 kills. Players can hop in with an Agent of their choice, but you'll only have one weapon available to you - the Snowball Launcher.

The Snowball Launcher has unlimited ammo, but you'll only be able to launch one snowball at a time with a small reload period. The snowballs travel as you'd expect, like projectiles with their own travel time and firing arc so you'll need to take that into account during the match. Each snowball can deal 150 damage.

For extra fun, players can pick-up some power-ups along the way. During the match, 'Gift Rifts' appear to drop gifts on the ground that can be shot at to reveal an orb. These orbs can give one of four temporary power ups:

  • Growball - snowballs grows over time while traveling in the air
  • Rapid Fire - increased rate of fire
  • Ricochet - snowballs can bounce off of walls and the ground
  • Skates - increased movement speed and maximum jump height

Upon being death, players drop any power ups on the ground for others to grab.

When Does Snowball Fight End in Valorant?

Snowball Fight is available now in Valorant and will run up until Jan. 11, 2022.
