What is Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3?
Wondering what Tactical Stance is in Modern Warfare 3? We have everything you need to know, plus how to use the new mechanic.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta launches this weekend for PlayStation users to get their first test run of the upcoming release. The beta includes five of the 16 classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps for fans to explore throughout October.
The Modern Warfare 3 beta and the Call of Duty: NEXT broadcast showcases not only the modernized maps, but also a range of new features coming to MW3. A clothing-based perk system offers Boots, Gloves, and Gear with unique advantages, and Tactical Stance brings improved mobility to close-range gunfights.
Here's a breakdown of Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3.
What is Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3?
Activision explains Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3 as the "perfect middle-ground" between hip-fire and ADS. As you enter close-quarter gunfights, Tac-Stance offers greater strafe and movement speed with minimized hip-fire spread.
According to Sledgehammer Games, Tactical Stance "balances mobility and accuracy, allowing for evasive maneuvers and aggressive engagements."
Tactical Stance "further evolves the quintessential, fast-moving gameplay" of Call of Duty. Now, fights in cramped spaces will be even more competitive if both players toggle on Tac-Stance. The new mechanic will also encourage a bigger skill gap in pubs and Ranked Play (when it drops).
How to Use Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3
To use Tactical Stance in Modern Warfare 3, players simply must toggle in and out of Tac-Stance while aiming down sights. Tac-Stance can be toggled anytime during a match, but it automatically toggles on while sliding. To enable Tac-Stance, hit down on the D-Pad.
With Tactical Stance toggled on, assault rifles can almost be as effective as SMGs in tight spaces. Now, AR players can move with greater freedom and push corners more aggressively.
