When Does FFXVI The Rising Tide Take Place?

FFXVI's first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, was released in December 2023. In it, players follow Clide and his allies to Sagespire, a Fallen tower, to investigate traitors. The add-on also includes new battles, weapons, accessories, a new level cap, and more.

Square Enix will also release FFXVI's second DLC, The Rising Tide, on April 18, 2024. PS5 players are wondering how the DLC fits in with the main story of the famous RPG.

When Does FFXVI The Rising Tide Take Place?

According to the official PlayStation blog post, the DLC occurs before the main game's ending. It also covers the mystery of the missing Eikon Leviathan as the party travels to Mysidia and learns about its inhabitants.

Echoes of the Fallen also starts before the main story's end. Sony was a little more specific about its details, saying that the first DLC begins "before the base game’s final battle, as strange, dark crystals begin to circulate on the black market."

The Rising Tide will be the last add-on of the FFXVI series and costs $19.99. Players can get a discount when they buy the Expansion Pack with both DLCs for $24.99. The latest DLC also has a lot of exciting additions coming to the game, including many chapters, abilities, locations, and sidequests.

Players must unlock the new content after unlocking the Origin destination on the world map and completing the main quest, "Priceless."
