Where to Find Cresselia in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
By Jack O'Dwyer
Trainers are finding themselves a bit confused when trying to figure out where to find Cresselia in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Not all mythical Pokémon are in charge of natural disasters or unfortunate events. Cresselia, for example, is known to bring good dreams, banish nightmares, and even heal those who are sick or gravely injured. Also known as the “Lunar” Pokemon, it is part of a duo with Darkrai, and can be found in the Sinnoh region if trainers are willing to track it down.
Here’s where to find Cresselia in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Cresselia’s story arc begins in Canalave City following the trainer’s acquisition of the National Dex. As players no doubt already know, the National Dex can only be acquired once players see all 150 species native to the Sinnoh region and defeat the entire Sinnoh League—Champion Cynthia, included.
Once in the city, trainers will need to find a house near the southwestern docks and head inside. A tragic sight awaits: a child is locked in a nightmare and cannot wake up no matter how hard their family tries. Fortunately, a sailor outside the home has an idea. Legend tells of a Pokemon whose feathers can banish event the most disturbing of nightmares.
The player is, of course, invited along, and the two soon land on Fullmoon Island. Cresselia is waiting there for them but quickly flies off upon being confronted. It leaves behind a Lunar Feather, however, which is really all the child needs to wake up. Upon returning to the city, the child is “cured” and trainers are alerted that Cresselia can be found wandering the region.
That’s right—much like Mesprit, Cresselia needs to be tracked, intercepted, and weakened over several locations in order to catch it.
How to Catch Cresselia
Cresselia’s location can be tracked by using the Marking Map application in the PokeTech watch. Keep in mind, however, that its location will change every time the trainer’s does, so lining up an encounter may be tricky for inexperienced players.
It can be found in tall grasses along its current Route.
Additionally, Cresselia will attempt to run from battle as soon as it has been spotted. Pokemon who know paralytic or inescapable moves like Sleep Powder or Scary Face would work well in these battles. Otherwise, the process may become more of a headache than usual.
Persistence and optimism is key while hunting Cresselia. Good luck trainers!
