Where to Find Spiritomb in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
By Jack O'Dwyer
Trainers want to know where they can find Spiritomb in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Spiritomb is a dark and ghost-type Pokemon hailing from the Sinnoh region. It was released in Generation IV and is one of the rarest Pokemon in the main series installations it can be found. This is likely due to the process needed to both find and catch one.
Also known as the "Forbidden" Pokémon, it is supposedly made up off 108 spirits. It was imprisoned in the fissure in an Odd Keystone over 500 years ago for its constant mischief and misdeeds. Its PokeDex number is #442.
Where to Find Spiritomb in Pokemon BD/SP
As stated in its PokeDex entry, trainers will need to find the Odd Keystone in which this Pokemon has been bound. This item can be picked up on Route 208 by an NPC who is primarily hidden by trees. Approach them and talk to them and they will give trainers the Odd Keystone without a fight.
The Odd Keystone is a rectangular stone with a large, forked fissure running down the center from the top and two dots equidistant from the crack. Clearly, this is the place Spiritomb has been bound. In fact, once summoned all Spiritomb use this stone as a base—visible in its artwork and in-game sprites.
To summon Spiritomb, trainers need to find the Hallowed Tower on Route 209 and place the Odd Keystone within it. The hard part begins after the stone has been placed.
For Spiritomb to emerge from its keystone, trainers need to drop into the Grand Underground and speak to 32 named non-vendor NPC trainers. Unfortunately, their spawn locations are random, so no guide exists to where they can be found. They'll simply need to be stumbled upon.
There is no order in which the trainers need to be found and players can exit and re-enter the Grand Underground whenever they'd like to continue their progress. Those who stop by the Hallowed Tower will be able to track how far along they are by the message the tower gives when interacted with. These messages appear as the following:
- 0-7: "It appears to have been built many years ago."
- 8-14: "Its stones appear to have shifted."
- 15-21: "Is that crying coming from inside the towers?"
- 22-28: "Is the shower shaking ever so slightly?"
- 29-31: "There is some sort of presence… It appears ready to emerge!"
From there, a Spiritomb will appear and be available for capture. If trainers miss their chance to catch this Pokemon, they'll need to speak with 32 more trainers and summon another.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available for the Nintendo Switch.
