Will Modern Warfare 3 Have SBMM?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is just one week away, and players want to know if the new title has SBMM.
SBMM, or skill-based matchmaking, creates lobbies of similarly skilled players in Call of Duty. In theory, the best players face off against the best, preventing new or average players from spawning in against professionals. Unfortunately, SBMM in previous Call of Duty titles is often unbalanced and prevents a more relaxed, casual style of gameplay.
So, can players expect SBMM in Modern Warfare 3?
Will Modern Warfare 3 Have SBMM?
Yes, Modern Warfare 3 will have SBMM. Like the previous Call of Duty titles, Modern Warfare 3 will place players of similar skill level into the same multiplayer matches.
The system often stirs mixed feelings from Call of Duty players. Many hate the idea of loading into a pub and facing a lobby of sweaty players going for clips or Diamond Camos. Some even say SBMM should be reserved for Ranked play.
Others enjoy the challenge of facing opponents as good as them, especially if the SBMM is well balanced.
Modern Warfare 3 SBMM Angers Call of Duty Community
Unsurprisingly, the Modern Warfare 3 SBMM already angered some prominent members of the Call of Duty community during the beta. The debate over SBMM has raged on for what seems like forever, and the release of Modern Warfare 3 once again encouraged polarizing reactions from players.
"Man, CoD pubs are INSUFFERABLE with how high tuned SBMM is," 100 Thieves Co-Owner, Jack "CouRage" Dunlop posted. "If you use ANY gun but the ACR or UMP, then you just get farmed by slide cancelling gigasweats and it's only day 2 of the BETA."
Davis "Hitch" Edwards, OpTic Gaming's Creative Director, replied, "SBMM was bad in MW19 and horrendous in Cold War. In MWII I didn't notice sbmm at all. Hopefully it's the same system as last year once the game comes out."
Come Nov,10, we will have a better understanding of the SBMM system in Modern Warfare 3, and if it is as unbalanced as the beta made it seem.
