Wurmple Evolution Guide for Pokemon GO: How to Evolve Wurmple

Wurmple has been in Pokemon GO since early December 2017. Here's how to get its two evolutions.

Niantic Labs implemented this Hoenn-region native during the first wave of Pokemon from the third generation. Wurmple, the pink-and-white "Worm" Pokemon is the bug-type equivalent of Kanto's Caterpie and/or Weedle with a bit of a twist. Instead of one evolution, it has the opportunity to become two distinct Pokemon.

Here's how it works.

Wurmple can be prompted to evolve after being fed 12 candies. It will evolve into Silcoon or Cascoon at random—no nickname tricks or exploits here. This is entirely up to the app to decide.

Shiny hunters should be glad to know that this Pokemon does have a shiny variant and, therefore, so does Silcoon, Cascoon, Beautifly, and Dustox.

Silcoon and Beautifly

Silcoon will evolve into Beautifly with the use of 50 candies. Also known as the "Butterfly" Pokemon, Beautifly appears very much like its name suggests—a beautiful butterfly. Trainers looking to attract it are advised to leave pollinator-friendly plants out. Its PokeDex number 267.

It does display sexual dimorphism in the form of the spots on its wings. Male Beautifly will have longer red markings near the top.

Beautifly is a bug and flying-type. It has the following stats:

• Maximum CP: 1996
• Maximum HP: 142
• Attack: 189
• Defense: 98
• Stamina: 155

Its best moveset contains the quick move Infestation and charged move Bug Buzz.

Cascoon and Dustox

Cascoon will evolve into Dustox using 50 candies. Also known as the "Posion Moth" Pokemon, like its real world counterpart, Dustox is attracted to light. Flocks will gather near bright urban areas like cities and eat the trees bare. Its PokeDex number is 269.

Like Beautifly, Dustox also displays sexual dimorphism. Males of this species have larger yellow antennae.

Dustox is a bug and posion-type. It has the following stats:

• Maximum HP: 142
• Attack: 98
• Defense: 162
• Stamina: 155

Its best moveset contains the quick move Confusion and charged move Sludge Bomb.
